🚨 Beware of This Facebook Shopify “Expert” Scam! 🚨

πŸš¨ Beware of This Facebook Shopify “Expert” Scam! 🚨

Just got caught in what is usual Facebook -Shopify-Tik-Tok-Experts-Fiver Scam.

I want to warn fellow business owners about a growing scam happening in Facebook groups. Anne (or whatever name they go by) pretends to be a helpful person, engaging in conversation for 3-5 days before recommending a so-called Shopify expert—but here’s the catch: It’s the same person using different names! That same person will ping pong you to other 3-5 people , that all have different names. In the end as confused you can get, no one is fully responsible for anything. I believe it was a male that had 4 femail emails and female names and images everywhere. What are the chances right?

How the Scam Works:
1️⃣ Fake "Helpful" Person: They start conversations in business groups and act like they’re giving genuine advice.
2️⃣ Shopify Expert "Recommendation": After gaining trust, they recommend a Shopify expert—who is actually themselves under another name.
3️⃣ Payment Scheme: Instead of working directly, they push you to pay them via Fiverr or another third-party platform, avoiding accountability.
4️⃣ Fake USA Presence: They pretend to be in the U.S., but if you’re awake, they’re asleep. If you ask for a phone call? They refuse.
5️⃣ WhatsApp Only: They insist on communicating only through WhatsApp, avoiding Facebook messaging or direct conversations.
6️⃣ No Proof, No Website, No Trail: They have no real reviews, no portfolio, and no proof of work. If you request a sample video, they steal screenshots from other sellers and present them as their own work.

🚨 How to Spot and Avoid This Scam:
✔ Ask for proof of their work—actual links, not screenshots.
✔ Refuse to use WhatsApp only—real businesses communicate through multiple platforms.
✔ Look for a real website—legitimate experts have an online presence beyond Facebook.
✔ Check time zones—if they claim to be in the U.S. but never respond during U.S. hours, 🚩red flag!
✔ Watch out for fake reviews—these scammers prop each other up with fake testimonials.

❌ DO NOT FALL FOR IT. This scam is becoming more common in online business groups. Report these accounts and protect others from being taken advantage of.
